Algae bloom
160 x 100 x 100 cm
Brown algae biopolymer, spirulina,
microalgae and water from panke river, glass flask.
The installation emerges from the artist’s in-depth observation and study of microalgae species from the Panke river in Berlin. Based on experimentation, the work materializes from symbolic and symbiotic relationships, reflecting growth patterns, where structures are formed through multiplication, intertwining and adaptation, mirroring the ways in which the little life that made the flask their ecosystem, interact with each other, forming a net of green threads, suspended on the water and thrives in fluid environments.
The exploration of algae as an organism and as a sculpture, brings together broader themes of ecology, sustainability, resilience, and the connection between living matter as form and metaphor.
