Residency in Snoopy ARP
(Artist Residence Program)
Valparaiso, Chile
13-26 February 2023

This work explored the potential of coastal brown algae, popular name Cochayuyo (Durvillaea antarctica) as a biomaterial. Initially Val observed and documented the algae’s features in their marine habitat. Their unique shape and properties when fresh led her to integrating them in the body, as an organic wearable, the final work is a series of photographs showcasing the intersection created.
The Algae used was founded lying in the beach of Valparaíso Province , Chile.

Another stage of the project is when Algae it’s started to loose water, from that observation another series of photographs were made, playing with their shape, before they completely dry and fix their form.
