ALGAE BODIES

Residency in Snoopy ARP - Artist Residence Program, Valparaiso, Chile 13-26 February 2023

In this residence I explored the potential of coastal brown algae, popular name Cochayuyo (Durvillaea antarctica) as a biomaterial. Initially I observed and documented the algae's features in their marine habitat. Their unique shape and properties when fresh led me to integrating them in the body, resulting in a series of photographs showcasing the intersection created.
The Algae used was founded lying in the beach of Valparaíso Province , Chile.

Another stage of the project is when Algae it’s started to loose water, I create another serie with their shape, before they completely dry and fix their form.
